Our Practices : Child Support

Child Support

A non-custodial parent is required to pay child support to the parent who is the primary care giver of the child/children. The amount of child support is worked out using a formula based on the taxable income of the parent with whom the child is not living. The income of the parent with whom the child is living will also be taken into account in certain circumstances.

Child support is usually sought when there is a separation or a divorce or when a child is born to people who have no intention of raising the child together.

If you want to ensure that your child or children are adequately provided for then you should seek the right advice from our lawyers who specialise in child support.

If you have been assessed for child support and you want to know whether the amount you have been required to pay is correct, our lawyers can advise you.
